Are You Willing To Do What It Takes? These Five Questions Reveal The Truth | 897
I've made an important decision and I'm going to share it with you here today as much to motivate myself as it is to hopefully motivate you. I've decided that I am no longer going to settle for mediocrity. I only want to work with the top 10% of any performer in any industry.
I only want to work with the top 10% of anyone in the activity that I'm choosing to participate in. So let's take this top 10% focus and let's talk about how it's going to impact my business. I was having dinner with one of our clients a couple of days ago and she said that she was getting extraordinary results.
And I said it was no wonder that she was getting extraordinary results because she did everything that I recommend that she enact in her business. And she said, is that common? Do the people who follow your advice get results similar to this? I said to her, you know, over the years we've looked at the results that my clients have gotten. I did a study from 2008 forward and we found that the people who are in the top 10% of implementation of the recommendations that I make, the people who implement 90% or more of the recommendations I make get astronomically successful results.
They get overwhelmingly better results than everybody else. And she said, that's why I'm renewing my membership. And she said, I know what other people charge and you would be a bargain at 10 times the fees that you're charging.
This hit me like a ton of bricks. And the reason this hit me so hard is because I want clients who will pay fees that are 10 times greater than I'm charging now. And drawing the link between these two things, results, implementation, and investment, actually that's three things, is a light bulb moment for me.
It's a moment of clarity. So I've decided that I'm only going to work with people who are going to do what I say. I'm a consultant.
I give you the guidance you need to get the success you desire. This is not optional. So how am I going to select people who are going to be the ideal client for me? Well, I'm going to give you the questions that I'm going to use and the answers that I'm looking for.
And the reason I'm doing this is, well, there's three reasons why I'm doing this. Number one, I'm doing this for myself. This is going to help me focus on only selecting the best and getting rid of everyone who's not a top 10% type client.
The second thing this is going to do is it's going to draw a line in the sand. And it's going to challenge me because I'm putting it out there in the universe. I'm not working with slackers anymore.
Not going to happen. I'm not working with people who are not going to show up. I'm not working with people who take my advice and they go, eh, it doesn't apply to me.
No, it applies to you. You should do it. You're not going to do it because you're lazy.
I'm not working with lazy people anymore. And the third thing is, if you're smart and you really want to work with me, you'll dig this up. You will find this video.
You will find this audio. And you will get the questions and the answers. So here they are.
Here are the five questions that I'm going to ask to qualify people to figure out if they are in the top 10% of what we're looking to accomplish. If they are in the top 10% of people who are going to do the work. Question number one.
Tell me about the last skill you deliberately set out to master. How did you go about it? And what was the result? I'm looking for specific skills. I'm looking for a clear process.
I want to hear what you did and the results that were tied to it. What are the red flags that will get me to throw you out? Vague answers. Or saying something like, I'm always learning without specifics or measurable results.
Question number two. When you've hit a major obstacle, how did you decide what to do next? When something got in your way, how did you decide what to do next? I'm looking for ownership of outcomes. I'm looking for a logical decision-making process under pressure.
I'm looking for resilience and resourcefulness. And I'm looking for speed of adaptation. Red flags that will get you thrown out, get you disqualified.
Blaming others. Being passive. Long-winded excuses.
Question number three. What is the biggest measurable result you've created in the last three years for your business or your clients? What I'm looking for, concrete numbers. Things like revenue growth, market share, efficiency gains, client wins.
I want a demonstrated pattern of high performance. Things that will get you thrown out, no data. A story that sounds like it's made up or a story that's luck.
Or not being able to remember the specifics. Question number four. Where do you want to be three years from now? And why is that important to you? What I'm looking for is specifics.
I'm looking for ambitious goals. I'm looking for forward-looking vision. I want deep personal reasons behind the goals that you've selected.
What will get you thrown out? Generic or vague. I want to be more successful. Statements like that.
Statements that are made without clear metrics or no way to measure them. Question number five. If I gave you a proven process that would double your results but required five extra hours a week for six months, how would you find the time to do that? What would you give up to make time for this? Specifically, the right clients, the right candidates for me will have immediate answers with immediate specific things they will drop.
I would drop client X. I would hand off this task. I would move my workouts to the mornings or push my workout to later in the day in order to get this done. You need to demonstrate your willingness to sacrifice and you need to demonstrate your prioritization skills.
What will get you thrown out? Hesitation, excuses, telling me you're already busy. These five questions, these five questions and the answers to these five questions will determine whether you're in the top 10% of people who are applying to be my clients and then after you successfully answer these, you got to pay me and that will determine whether or not you're going to get the results you want. The people who work with me, who do the things that I recommend are overwhelmingly successful.
If you want to share in that success, don't hesitate. Take action. Reach out to me and when I ask you these questions, give me the answers that demonstrate that you're willing to do what it takes to be in the top 10% of people in your field.
